Made in the image of God

By Neil Hart

I have got good news for you, you were made in God’s image! How cool is that? And…what on earth does that mean? Its means a few things actually:

  1. Something about you looks like God! In the book of genesis is says that God decided to create us in His image. No matter how good or bad looking you are, there is something about you that reflects the image of God. Its His intentional plan for your life to have stamped you with His very nature. A sign that He is pleased with us. Don’t ever let anyone tell you anything different.
  2. You have eternal value: God has placed enough value on you and me that He decided to create us in His own image. The bible says that He knew you before you were born and that He knitted you together in your mother’s womb! Wow. He must have eternal and important plans for your life – he values you!
  3. You have an important mission. As image-bearers of God, He has a specific mission for each of us. We read in Ephesians 2 that we were created for good works by God that we should walk in them. He has tailor-made something which each of us should be doing to reflect God’s glory and pleasure to the rest of the world, and He expects us to walk out this life! I have a sneaky suspicion that He knows that when we do this, we are most satisfied and He is most glorified!

Isn’t this the best news ever?
